We got ourselves a classic science fiction here. But not only that, it’s an excellent action and mystery as well. Hold on to your black hats and straighten your black tie. Here we go. The story takes place in 1947 Seattle. There’s been some “strange lights” in the skies, and, naturally, they need investigating. Our man-in-black wakes up in an apartment with amnesia. Well, what happened? “I’m not saying it was the aliens….but it was the aliens.” We proceed to put the pieces together as our G-men slowly regain their memories. The only thing really getting in their way is all the trying not to die that they have to do. Oh, and keep everyone else safe. No big deal… Then there’s all the extra drama, the problems with the chain of command. And the aliens, of course. Can’t forget them. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Guess you’ll just have to read it and find out. I’ll also add that this was probably one of the most realistic endings that could have happened. Excellent conclusion.
The characters are very realistic. Too the point where one could say it’s a fault of the story if you want your characters to be more larger-than-life, but I think there’s still enough of that in there that you’ll be pretty satisfied. Even the NPC side characters felt very real. The interplay between the characters, the different groups, and even the aliens is excellent. Sure to keep you wondering what will happen to each of them.
If you’ve ever wanted to put yourself into a fun, UFO noir story, this is for you. The pacing is pretty much perfect. The reading is engaging. I don’t know how to compliment this without giving things away, so I’ll just say the. It’s just plain good. I can’t really think of anything that I had a problem with when I read it. If you’re into this genre, I think you’ll love this book. So you should buy it. Before the government lists it as “classified.” 5/5
